What I Read in 2017

I wish I could say I read more in 2017, but I managed to finish 17 books in 2017. I used to read a lot more when I was in high school, but in college that extra free time to read has kind of escaped me. It’s one of my goals this year to at least read a month, with a total of 20 books by the end of the year.

Reading is a great escape from reality, and it really is good for the soul. I read mostly contemporary young adult novels for reference. I’m just going to mention my five favorites that I read throughout the year, the rest are shown below. Feel free to check out my Goodreads account as well for more updates on my reading.

Things We Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby

This was the first book I read of the year! Quinn Sullivan lost her boyfriend, Trent, to an accident. She reached out to the donor recipients but never heard back from the heart recipient. She tracks down Colton and starts an accidental relationship with him. This book is super heartfelt and gushy, I highly recommend.

Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks

I really enjoy Nicholas Sparks books, but this one was an especially sweet storyline. Russell Green had a perfect life, a great job, wife, and beautiful daughter. Although everything is always worse than it seems. Within months, he is without a job or a wife, taking care of his daughter on his own. This book really follows the sweet relationship that develops between a father and daughter.

Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han

This is the third and final installment of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series. These books are great, and I relate a lot to the character of Lara Jean. I don’t want to give too much away of the series, but I definitely recommend reading this series.

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

This is a split storyline following Natasha and Daniel. Natasha and her family are about to be deported back to Jamacia, and she is trying to stop this. Daniel is trying his best to be the prodigal son his family expects him to be. Their sudden meeting changes everything for both of them in a short amount of time.

Once and For All by Sarah Dessen

Sarah Dessen is another one of my all time favorite novels, I think I’ve read all of them too! This one is about Louna, who is working for her mother’s wedding planning business over the summer. After her first-love had a tragic ending, she isn’t sure she can find love again. Then she meets happy go-lucky Ambrose.
